Relaxed, Relational and Relevant Church on the Gold Coast

Vision

The vision is for a new regional style congregation targeting the 40 and under age group in the rapidly growing residential area at the end of the northern end of the Gold Coast. We have identified the area between the Nerang and Coomera rivers as a major geographical focus.Phase 1: The core group/mission team is established, developing core values, identifying mission, and shaping a distinctive mission focus for the area.

Phase 2: The core group develops a network of people involved in small groups.

Phase 3: Public worship is launched once there is a critical mass of 100 - 120 people involved in the network of small groups. This is to ensure that the congregation grows and doesn’t become limited to the style of a small family-style church.

Here’s some of our rough thinking at the moment on our distinctive vision/mission focus:

People coming to know Christ

Nurturing those who come

Groups that breathe life into people

Relationship built intentionally with Under 40’s

Being Christ in the community

Identify the “needs” of those in our community

Being intentional about forming relationships in the community - we don’t expect people to come to us

Meet where the people are - parks, bowls clubs, bowling alley, shopping malls.

Make the most of passion for hospitality (Meals, barbecues)

Modelling a different way of being church

Any activity is church - small groups etc.

Making “church exciting / different

Laid back - Reputation for being different / exciting / not ‘church’ as we know it

Identifying what we have to offer (Uniting Church but not typical)
